Ceasefire comes into force in Gaza Strip

A ceasefire took hold on Friday in the Gaza Strip as Israel and Hamas agreed to halt nearly two weeks of fighting that left hundreds dead and parts of the impoverished gaza strip destroyed.
There were no reports of violations early Friday, though each side said it stood ready to retaliate for any attacks by the other.
Palestinians in the Gaza Strip took to the streets and held celebrations of their victory embracing one another in front of bombed buildings. Palestinians in Gaza could not mark the Eid al-Fitr festival at Ramadan's conclusion due to the Israeli airstrike. On Friday, postponed Eid celebrations were held throughout Gaza.
More than 10 days of attacks killed at least 240 Palestinians in Gaza including 66 children, wounded more than 1,900 and damaged critical infrastructure and thousands of homes according to officials. The clashes began when Israeli regime attacked worshipers in Al Aqsa Mosque and started its eviction plans of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem.
After days of Israeli airstrikes people here are celebrating their victory, saying they keep supporting the resistance in the face of Israeli violations of Palestinian rights.
