Tens of Afghans including student children were killed and dozens more were injured after a vehicle –bomb car went off in the eastern province of Logar.

Afghan government strongly blames the militant group of Taliban for being behind the deadly attack. Based on a statement released by the Afghan presidential palace, the Taliban is involved in such attacks because it thinks it would achieve its goals via spreading further war and violence across the country.

The blast came just a day before the US and its NATO partners officially begin pulling out the last of their troops of the country. The military withdrawal of about 2,500 American soldiers and around 7,000 allied troops is scheduled to be completed by September 11.

The US along with its NATO allies invaded Afghanistan in 2001 under the guise of fighting terrorism and dismantling the Taliban. The invasion removed the Taliban from power, but the militant group has never stopped its attacks, citing the foreign military presence as one of the main reasons behind its continued militancy.

Meanwhile, the blast came despite the Afghan government and the Taliban are negotiating to find an end to years of bloodshed in the country.

Locals call on all players mainly the Afghan government and the Taliban to meet nation’s demand and put an end to their decade’s long misery by bringing a lasting peace to the country.

The Taliban declares the launch of its spring offensive around this time each year as part of its plan to gain more ground from the Afghan government.

But it seems impossible for the Taliban to win through war due to military and political obstacles they are facing. The Afghan armed forces are now enough capable to independently launch counter terrorism operations across the country. As official figures show, an average of 50 Taliban militants are being killed by Afghan forces on a daily basis.
