Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip held a press conference that comes as part of a series of events to mark the Palestinian Prisoner’s Day. Palestinian factions expressed their support to all the prisoners who are suffering from torture and violations of their basic rights in Israeli prisons.

Elsewhere, the Palestinian resistance movement, Islamic Jihad, held a sit-in in front of the UN office in solidarity with thousands of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. The movement stressed that its priority is the issue of prisoners, vowing not to remain silent over the Israeli inhumane policies.

The Israeli regime has imprisoned nearly one million Palestinians since 1967. Many Palestinian prisoners suffer from chronic illnesses and are denied proper medical treatment by Israel’s Prison Service runs. Statistics show that over 200 Palestinian detainees have died in Israeli prisons since 1967 due to medical negligence.
