Abha airport in Saudi Arabia is hit again by Yemeni drone
Yemen’s army and popular committees have carried out a drone strike on a military position at Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern province of Asir.
The spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said in a brief statement that an attack “again” targeted a military position at Abha International Airport on Saturday.
Saree noted that a Qasef-2k UAV was used in the attack, which hit the target with precision.
The spokesman reiterated that the strike was a “legitimate and natural” response to Saudi Arabia’s escalating aggression against Yemen and its siege on the impoverished country.
It was the second drone attack to target the airport over the past few days.
On Thursday, Saree said Yemeni forces hit a military target at the airport using a Qasef-2K.
A day later, six Yemeni drones were used in an attack that hit a facility belonging to oil giant Aramco in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
More than 100,000 people have died since Saudi Arabia launched the war on Yemen in March 2015. The tally was estimated by the US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a nonprofit conflict-research organization.
The UN says more than 24 million Yemenis are in dire need of humanitarian aid. Of that number, 10 million are suffering from extreme levels of hunger.
