Voices of divinity; these ear-soothing voices narrate divine verses from the holy book of Quran. The recitations come as part of the 37th International Quran Competition based in Iran.

57 finalists from 26 countries are competing in the annual contest, which was held online this year due to the pandemic. 411 participants from 67 countries took part in the primary stage of the competition, which was held online last year.

122 contestants made it to the semi-final stage. Participants compete in three different fields of recitation, memorization and interpretation. The Endowment and Charity Affairs Organization which organizes the Quranic event says the motto of this year’s edition is “One Book, One Ummah”.

It says the ultimate goal is to unite the Muslim community based on the teachings of the holy book of Quran. Not all Muslims can recite the holy Quran as perfectly as contestants here do, but every Muslim family has the holy book in their houses to read it and ponder the messages embedded in its verses. Messages that Muslims here say boil down to this key instruction; follow the path of righteousness.
