Yemen’s Petroleum Company has lost vitally big due to Saudi-led siege

The executive director of Yemen’s Petroleum Company says the firm lost over 100 million dollars in 2020 due to a siege laid by the Saudi-led coalition.
In a Wednesday press conference in the capital Sana’a, the official said nearly two dozen petrol ships belonging to the Petroleum Company had been impounded by Saudi Arabia in 2020.
He said the seizures came despite the fact that the ships all had transit permits from the UN.
The company said the ships were released after a few months but Saudi Arabia’s ‘acts of piracy’ cost them millions of dollars in delay fines.
Yemeni officials say the confiscation of ships caused a spike in fuel prices and forced the closure of some services. Many people have to wait for days to get fuel for their vehicle in the limited number of petrol stations.
