African Americans have to ‘want to be successful,’ Kushner says
US President Donald Trump‘s son-in-law Jared Kushner says African Americans have to “want to be successful.”
He made the comments in an interview with Fox news on Monday as his father-in-law was enjoying little support from Black Americans ahead of the November 3 election.
“One thing we’ve seen in a lot of the Black community, which is mostly Democrat, is that President Trump’s policies are the policies that can help people break out of the problems that they’re complaining about,” said the White House senior advisor. “But he can’t want them to be successful more than they want to be successful.”
Trump was, meanwhile, trailing behind former Vice President Joe Biden across the nation.
“What you’re seeing throughout the country now is a groundswell of support in the Black community because they’re realizing that all the different bad things that the media and the Democrats have said about President Trump are not true and so they’re seeing that he’s actually delivered,” added the president’s Jewish son-in-law.
Hoping to win reelection, Trump has been trying hard to win the favor of African-Americans despite allegations of his tacit support for White supremacy.
