Iran has unveiled its new defense achievements, including two new missiles and one turbofan engine, as part of a ceremony to mark the country's Defense lndustry Day.

On the occasion of Iran’s National Defense Industry Day, Iran has unveiled two new missiles named Haj Qassem and Abu Mahdi. Haj Qassem missile is categorized as a mid-range missile, which can travel a distance of 1400 kilometers.

The system is superlight and has high agility. It can strike positions at high precision. Thanks to its high speed of up to 12 Mach Haj Qassem missile can easily surpass the enemies’ anti-missile defense shields.

Abu Mahdi cruise missile is the first strategic naval cruise missile to be used against moving targets which can travel a distance of more than 1000 kilometers. One of the main features of the Abu Mahdi cruise is that it can be fired from different locations on the same target which will cause the target to lose its reaction power; its cruise control and navigation system has increased the precision of the missile.

Iran’s defense ministry has also launched a mass production line for manufacture of Owj turbojet engine. The Owj engine had been initially unveiled almost four years ago, but its mass production line came onto stream to mark the defense industry day.

Since then the Owj aircraft engine has successfully passed all its flight tests and is ready to be used by 10-ton class aircrafts. Moreover, Jahesh Turbofan engine is yet another achievement unveiled by Iran’s defense ministry. Mono blade or crystal blade has been used in Jahesh turbofan engine which has high resistance to pressures and temperature.

Iran has repeatedly maintained that its military power poses no threat to other countries and is merely attentive to its military doctrine of deterrence.

Despite sanctions ,Iran has reached self-sufficiency over the past years in producing its military needs to the extent that according to the defense minister Tehran will be able to begin exporting military equipment to other countries when the restrictions are lifted on October 18 under the JCPOA.
