Hospital staff give Belgium PM Wilmes cold shoulder during visit
Belgian Prime Minister Sophie Wilmes received a cold reception from the staff at the Saint-Pierre Hospital in Brussels on Saturday, as medics turned their backs on her car upon arrival.
Footage showed nurses and doctors turning their backs on Wilmes's car, reportedly as a sign of protest against the government's approach towards the coronavirus pandemic, budget cuts in healthcare, and low salaries.
As of Sunday, Belgium has registered 55,280 COVID-19 cases and 9,052 deaths related to the virus, according to the data compiled by John Hopkins University.
