Fiorentina registers 6 new COVID-19 cases
In Italy, Serie A's resumption has been thrown into jeopardy as Fiorentina confirm six new cases of COVID-19.
There has been optimism regarding the return of football in Italy, with the news of a continuing decline in coronavirus infections and death tolls in the country. However, Fiorentina have announced on Thursday that they have found six new COVID-19 cases, three of whom are players.
These individuals have been isolated and the rest of the squad are due to begin training tomorrow. Fiorentina are the second Serie A club to confirm a coronavirus case, after Torino announced a positive test on Wednesday.
Italian clubs are said to be unanimously in favor of resuming the season, but these new infections have cast shadow over any short-term plans to relaunch football in Italy.
