No mountain too high for Iranian double amputee mountaineer set to conquer Everest

A mountaineer from Iran aims to conquer Mount Everest on prosthetic legs. Meet 38-year Sajjad Salarvand, an athlete who lost his limbs in an accident but did not lose his will.

Salarvand was back at his training on the hills of Shemiranat, in Tehran outskirts, on Tuesday, as the coronavirus restrictions on movements have been eased.

Salarvand said he became a victim of a car crash which left the medics no choice but to amputate the man's legs. However, the tragic event did not stop the athlete from reaching new heights.

"I, with these two artificial legs, reached the top of Milad Tower after passing 150 floors and 1,693 stairs in 35 minutes and achieved a gold medal," Salarvand said proudly adding "There is no impossible or limitation in our lives. All the limitations are in our minds."
