US annexation recognition
It was an announcement that was not too much of surprise, and in a way, it was anticipated. The US announced that it was ready to recognize the Israeli annexation of the occupied West Bank and the Jordan Valley.
Even though the US president had originally floated recognition of the occupied territories in the so-called Deal of the Century, the official announcement has nevertheless drawn angry reactions from the Palestinians and the Palestinian Authority.
