Argentina: Volunteers launch 'face mask for food' campaign to help poor families

A group of 20 women and a few men in Rosario have launched a campaign to help the Argentinian city's poorest people to get food.

They have been producing face masks and distributing them among local residents in exchange for non-perishable food which is set to be given to the hundreds of families in vulnerable neighbourhoods.

"The social situation is going to get worse, it is going to go in a direction that will precipitate things into a quarantine. Clearly from the first day we as an organisation and the state has had two battles: health and social stability that comes with having food at home," said Claudia Fleitas, the coordinator behind the project.

The group also has been explaining to people how to properly use the face masks and to follow the government's recommendations for hygiene.
