US primary and caucuses

The caucuses are essentially the primary indicators of who will be running for the office of US President.

The term has since been adopted by several countries around the world, yet the focus is vastly placed on the US as the media flock to Iowa. Although not part of the US Constitution, the process is essentially an indication of who will be selected to run from President, as nominees face the vote of the US electorate choosing their preferred candidates.
