Germany’s Alexander Zverev has made it to the last 4 of the Australian Open after fighting back from a set down to beat Stan Wawrinka of Switzerland.
The 7th seed German had a slow start and was broken twice in the opener before losing it 6-1.
That was the 1st set he had dropped in the tournament so far. Zverev however, found his rhythm in the 2nd and took it 6-3 to level the game at 1-set apiece.
The German youngster continued his fine play in the next 2 sets, taking them 6-4 and 6-2 respectively to reach his 1st career Grand Slam semi-final.
Zverev rifled 13 aces and converted 5 of 13 break point chances to wrap up the match in 2 hours and 22 minutes.
In the semifinals, he will face Austria's Dominic Thiem, who stunned Rafael Nadal 3-sets-to 1.
That’s while in the other last 4 encounter, two titans of tennis, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, will be meeting each other on Thursday to decide the first finalist.
