The Welsh Conservative party continues to court controversy after one of their leading members was arrested last night.
According to reports, Welsh Assembly Member, Nick Ramsay was arrested at his home following a “police incident”.
According to a Welsh Tory spokesman, Ramsey has now been “suspended” from both the Welsh Conservative Group in the Assembly and from the Welsh Tory party pending investigation by “external agencies”.
The Welsh Tory party was in disarray for most of 2019, in large measure due to poor leadership and associated party in-fighting.
The party in-fighting spilled out into the open in late summer after Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, sidelined Welsh Tory leader, Paul Davies, by not informing him of his decision to prorogue Parliament.
It was widely reported at the time that there was a power struggle between Davies and the then Welsh secretary, Alun Cairns, who is a Johnson ally.
