Former German international midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has retired at the age of 35, following the end of the American MLS season.

The 35-year old midfielder then joined Chicago Fire on a free transfer in 2017. Schweinsteiger, who won the 2014 World Cup, also gained 121 caps, scoring 24 goals between 2004 and 2016 for Germany.
