Serbia have booked their ticket to the final showdown of the men's European Volleyball Championship after defeating their hosts France in a 5-set thriller.

France, who were enjoying the support of their home fans in Paris, managed to claim the opening set 25-23 but the Serbs came up with a great block system in the second to pay France with the same coin and tie the match at 1-all.

The 3rd set was the climax of the match with Serbia cruising to a 25-21 win, nevertheless, France regrouped in the 4th and responded with a 25-17 victory to restore parity once again.

In the tiebreak, Serbia got off to a five-nothing lead and went all the way to beat France 15-7 and qualify for the final round.

France will next face Poland on Saturday in the bronze medal match, while Serbia and Slovenia will fight for gold on Sunday.
