The United States has been using its economic hegemony and influence against other countries in the past decades.
Different administrations have worked with the countrys legislative and financial entities to pass and implement laws that could punish other nations under various pretexts. The policy has even witnessed a surge during the administration of the forty-fifth president: Donald Trump. Trump and his team have imposed, re-imposed, or toughened sanctions against Russia, Iran, China, Cuba, North Korea and Venezuela to name a few.
