Born to be wild: Russian pensioner heads up female biker gang
Many use their retirement as a chance to wind down, but not 55-year-old Russian motorbike enthusiast Sevastyana Samorodok.
Samorodok, a retired head of a traditional folk music ensemble, spends her free time burning rubber around the countryside in Chelyabinsk in central Russia with her gang of female bikers known as the "Steel Cobras."
The eight-strong female-only biker gang was started up by Samorodok five years ago, after friends pushed her to find other people to ride with.
The line-up has changed over the years, said Samorodok, adding that only two original members of the group remain, including herself.
Decked out in leather trousers, denim jackets covered in badges and helmets with fake hair attached, the Steel Cobras ride in formation around the Ural region. Later this year, they plan to drive over 2000 kilometers (1243 miles) to the Black Sea.
Even though she is retired, Samorodok, who learned to ride aged 14, has no plans of slowing down and described herself as a lively person.
"It's just that I have a lot of energy, I think that I have enough for a long time," she said.
