US President Donald Trump says he’s decided to suspend imposition of additional tariffs on Chinese imports as the two sides agree to resume talks.

Trump was addressing a news conference at the end of the G-20 summit in the Japanese city of Osaka. He said Beijing has agreed to buy American agricultural products. The American president didn’t provide a definitive answer to a question on the possibility of lifting sanctions on China’s Huawei. He, however, said American companies can sell products to the Chinese telecom giant. Earlier in the day, Trump had a bilateral meeting with Chinese president Xi Jinping who warned the American president about the consequences of confrontation in trade.

In an interview with Press TV, author and columnist, Einar Tangen, says Trump is seeking to delay the trade talks with China in order to use it as a political tool in his re-election campaign.
