Protesters threw Molotov cocktails at government buildings as supporters of Albania's Democratic Party-led opposition demonstrated on the streets of Tirana on Saturday.

Thousands gathered in the capital's main Martyrs of the Nation boulevard to demand the government's resignation and an early parliamentary election.

Demonstrators waved Albanian flags and chanted slogans, while flares, firecrackers, Molotovs and other projectiles thrown from the crowd threatened to cause injury.

The opposition has accused Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama's Cabinet of being corrupt and linked to organized crime, which the government denies.
