Police clash with Yellow Vests in Lyon

Yellow Vest protesters march in Lyon, Saturday, May 4, 2019.

Police used tear gas against protesters during the 25th Yellow Vests outing in Lyon on Saturday.

Footage shows the march through the city center of Lyon, clouds of tear gas and police in riot gear firing what appear to be rubber bullets.

The clashes reportedly broke out as a small group of protesters tried to enter Rue Barre which had been declared off limits to the protest.

Tens of thousands have marched in the streets of France every Saturday since November 2018 for a variety of grievances ranging from taxes on fuel to income inequality.
