Iran: Asiatic lions return to Iran after more than 80 years

A pair of Asiatic lions have returned to Iran after eighty years, in a ceremony held at Tehran Zoological Garden.

The institution took seven years to bring back the lions after submitting a request to the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria.

Asiatic lions once were present in the Middle East and India, but today only a small number of them survive in the wild.
