They are the world's most successful football club, winner of 13 UEFA Champions League titles, and countless domestic cups. But now Real Madrid is making news for another reason.

They've made a bold move into politics by hosting Ahed Tamimi, the Palestinian teenager, who's just served an 8 month prison sentence for slapping Israeli soldiers.

Real, which already supports 1000 Palestinian refugee children through their association with the UN, has gone a stage further by welcoming the 17 year old and her father to their giant Bernabeu Stadium and giving her a club jersey with her name on it. It's a gesture that has outraged the Israeli government, which denounced Real's behavior as a "disgrace to sport's values".
