Ivanka Trump may succedd Nikki Haley as US ambassador to UN: Pundit

Ivanka Trump might be nominated as the successor to outgoing United States ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, according to American political pundit Gordon Duff.

On Tuesday, Haley announced her abrupt resignation.

Following Haley's announcement, US President Donald Trump told reporters that his daughter, Ivanka, would be "incredible" for the post of US ambassador to the UN.

“Ivanka would be dynamite. But you know I'd then be accused of nepotism… I’m not sure there's anybody more competent in the world,” he said.

Meanwhile, Haley’s resignation came to political analysts as a surprise.

Gordon Duff, senior editor of the Veterans Today, described Haley as just the kind of person Trump’s National Security Adviser John Bolton would want for the job. “She was willing to say anything. Tell any lie imaginable. She was a person utterly bereft of any personal morality, ” Duff said about Haley, adding, “She was hated just about by everyone.”

The US-based analyst told Press TV in a phone interview on Saturday that he believed the work done by Haley and her team during her approximately two-year tenure had been detrimental to US foreign policy and bore humiliating results for Americans.

“She worked to make America a laughing stock in the United Nations, which I think has been consistent with the decline in American foreign policy,” Duff said.

Trump now wants to pursue his failed Middle East policies through his daughter Ivanka and her pro-Israeli husband, Jared Kushner, according to Duff.

“The underlying reason [for Haley’s resignation] is that Trump is determined to put his foreign policy in the hand of his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to implement his Middle East plan, which is falling apart,” Duff said.

“I believe Trump will be successful to push this forward,” Duff noted, adding,"We don’t see anyone else possible. That is all that Washington is talking about, but nobody seems to care anyway."

Duff noted that all politicians in Washington, especially Republicans, were presently concerned about the upcoming midterm congressional elections.

Republicans are expecting a disaster after next month's elections, he said.

“We are not going to see a move until after the elections, and that move will be to put his daughter in,” Duff added.

In the meantime, until her resignation goes into effect at the end of the year, Haley will be holding the post of US Ambassador to the UN.
