Iran beats Sri Lanka with straight sets win in 2018 Asian Boys' U18 Volleyball Championship

The Iran men’s national under-18 volleyball team has trounced Sri Lanka in straight sets at the second round of the 2018 Asian Boys' U18 Volleyball Championship.

On Tuesday evening, the Iranians sealed their win by seeing off the Sri Lankan squad 3-0 (25-21, 25-17 and 25-13) in a fixture staged at the indoor Shahid Poursharifi Arena in northwestern Iranian city of Tabriz.

The Iranian volleyball players started the match with vim and vigor, and dug and spiked effectively throughout the first set. They went ahead and won it 25-21.

The Iranian team kept its dominant performance in the second set of the game with some good attacks, and took it 25-17.

Iranians stood firm against their rivals in the last set and powered through to claim it by 25 points to 13.

The 2018 Asian Boys' U18 Volleyball Championship kicked off on June 29, and will run through July 6. 

The Iran men’s national under-18 volleyball team is scheduled to face India in a quarterfinal showdown on Wednesday.
