Grim discovery as 18th century Church and 30 graves excavated in Russia's Tula
Remains of the 18th-century Krestovozdvizhenskaia Church and around 30 graves were excavated in the Russian city of Tula on Monday.
The coffins were carved out of solid pieces of wood. Archaeologists say they will study the remains to learn more about the way of life back then and the cause of death. The remains will then be given an Orthodox burial.
The church fractions were discovered in March. Located on Krestovozdvizhenskaia Square in the center of Tula, the church was demolished in 1934.
