Italy: Protesters rally against housing evictions in Rome

Protesters took to the streets of Rome, Tuesday, to demonstrate against the eviction of residents who are unable to meet their mortgage and rent payments.

Demonstrators held banners against eviction and called on politicians to do more to tackle the issue.

According to trade unions, thousands of families suffer evictions every year in Italy. “Institutions don’t provide a solution. So we are obligated to occupy [homes]. We do not have a choice. Otherwise, we will have to live on the streets. Nobody gives any solution for poor people," stated Ray, who has been affected by eviction.
