Iran handball team defeats Slovenian side in friendly match

Iran men’s national handball team has defeated the Slovenian squad Rokometni Klub Koper, commonly referred to as RK Koper or simply Koper, in a warm-up match as it is preparing for the 2018 Asian Men's Handball Championship in South Korea.

The Iranian side exhibited a rather acceptable display of skills and strength in Ljubljana, and narrowly eked out a 33-32 win over the host nation’s team in its opening friendly match in the Central European country.

Iran national handball team is scheduled to stay in Slovenia for several days, during which it will play a number of friendly matches.

The Persians are getting ready for the 2018 Asian Men's Handball Championship. The tournament will be held from January 18 to 28 in Suwon, South Korea.

It acts as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2019 World Men's Handball Championship. For the first time, Australia, New Zealand and Bangladesh will participate in the event.

Iran has been drawn in Group A along with Iraq and Japan.

Australia, Bahrain, Oman and Uzbekistan are in Group B.

While Group C consists of Bangladesh, India, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates, China, New Zealand, Qatar and Saudi Arabia form Group D.
