CNN news network has come under attack once more by US President Donald Trump for what he described as the network's “purposeful mistake."

Trump claimed CNN had corrected a story titled Email pointed Trump campaign to WikiLeaks documents out of sheer malice.

CNN's story reported that presidential candidate Donald Trump, his son Donald Trump Jr. and others in the Trump Organization received an email in September 2016 offering a decryption key and website address for hacked WikiLeaks documents.

Trump claimed on Twitter that the network had intentionally misled the public by publishing the story and its correction, accusing CNN of fraud.

“Fake News CNN made a vicious and purposeful mistake yesterday,”Trump tweeted on Saturday.

“CNN’S slogan is CNN, THE MOST TRUSTED NAME IN NEWS. Everyone knows this is not true, that this could, in fact, be a fraud on the American Public. There are many outlets that are far more trusted than Fake News CNN. Their slogan should be CNN, THE LEAST TRUSTED NAME IN NEWS!” he also tweeted.

Trump has repeatedly used the term “fake news” to cast doubt on critical media reports related to him. Last month, Trump suggested that a contest be held to find out which of the “fake news” networks was most "dishonest" and “corrupt”.

Trump has threatened many times to sue media outlets for libel.

In addition to CNN, The New York Times and NBC, as well as other mainstream media, have been blacklisted by Trump.

According to The Washington Post, Trump has made more than 1,600 false statements this year alone.
