Ireland hold Denmark to 0-0 draw in first leg

Darren Randolph was the hero and Pione Sisto the villain as the Republic of Ireland scrapped their way to a 0-0 World Cup play-off draw in Denmark.

The Republic of Ireland have returned from Denmark with a scoreless draw in the first leg of their 2018 World Cup qualifying playoff match.

The hosts had a couple of chances, but goalie Darren Randolph made some excellent saves to keep Ireland's clean-sheet intact in the first half.

The Danes dominated possession in the second half, but once again Randolph was in fine form to keep his goal closed with a great save in injury time, denying Yussuf Poulsen’s header.

The two teams will meet again on November 14 for the decisive second leg in Dublin to determine who will advance to next summer’s World Cup.
