Queiroz names Iran team for FIFA World Cup warm-up matches

Head coach of Iran's national football team Carlos Queiroz has announced the names on the final roster of the squad for the forthcoming fixtures against Togo and Russia as part of preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

On Sunday, the 64-year-old Portuguese picked Alireza Beiranvand, Alireza Haghighi, Hamed Lak and Rashid Mazaheri as goalkeepers.

Saeid Aghaei, Rouzbeh Cheshmi, Ehsan Haji Safi, Seyyed Jalal Hosseini, Vouria Ghafouri, Hossein Kana’anizadegan, Milad Mohammadi, Morteza Pouraliganji and Ramin Rezaeian will join the Iranian outfit as defenders.

Ahmad Abdollahzadeh, Vahid Amiri, Ashkan Dejagah, Omid Ebrahimi, Saeid Ezatolahi, Akbar Imani and Mehdi Torabi will be playing as midfielders.

Moreover, Sardar Azmoun, Karim Ansarifard, Saman Ghoddos, Reza Ghoochannejhad, Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Kaveh Rezaei and Mehdi Taremi have been selected to play as forwards during Team Melli’s upcoming matches.

The Iran men’s national football team will play against Togo at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on October 5, before taking on the Russia national football team at Kazan Arena in Kazan five days later.

Team Melli defeated Uzbekistan 2-0 at Azadi Stadium on Jun 13, and qualified for the 2018 World Cup in Moscow.
