Iraq parliament ousts Kirkuk governor at request of Abadi

The Iraqi parliament has overwhelmingly voted to remove the Kurdish governor of oil-rich Kirkuk province for supporting the Kurdistan region’s planned independence vote. The move comes after Najmudin Kareem ordered the flag of Kurdistan be raised over government and provincial buildings in Kirkuk.
