Paul Ryan has hijacked US, his primary challenger says

US House Speaker Paul Ryan, who was officially endorsed by GOP nominee Donald Trump, has been criticized by his primary challenger businessman Paul Nehlen.

“It’s people like Paul Ryan who have hijacked this great country of ours from us,” said Nehlen Monday in an interview with Breitbart News Daily SiriusXM.

His interview came one day ahead of his primary challenge against Ryan, who has served in US Congress since 1999.

“It’s absolutely criminal what these guys are doing,” Nehlen continued.

On Friday, Trump finally endorsed Ryan and Senator John McCain in their primary race for re-election in an attempt to end a rift with two of the GOP’s most influential figures.

"We will have disagreements, but we will disagree as friends and never stop working together toward victory. And very importantly, toward real change," Trump said. "So in our shared mission, to make America great again, I support and endorse our speaker of the House, Paul Ryan."

Nehlen, who has used the Trump-Ryan row to his own benefit, said the presidential contest and his congressional race are centered around what he described as a situation in which the American people are repeatedly being lied to.

He said the control should be taken back from politicians “who should have never had it in the first place.”

“Neither of these races are about the two of us,” Nehlen said. “These races are about people getting lied to over and over and over again.”

Ryan is expected to win Nehlen easily on Tuesday.
