Press TV has interviewed Syed Hussein Alamdar, an author and Islamic scholar from Orlando, about the impact of Eid al-Fitr on unity among Muslim nations around the world.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: As we were speaking in our previous interview, times for Muslims around the world are very testing so to speak, and there are forces that are trying to sow sectarianism and division among Muslim communities specifically here in the Middle East. Eid al-Fitr and of course the month of Ramadan was one that brought Muslims together, didn't it?

Alamdar: Islam is a beautiful religion and all the biblical religions like Christianity and Judaism had the same root from Abraham. Islam itself is beautiful and Eid al-Fitr is also an opportunity for Islamic brotherhood and solidarity, and in fact, we want the solidarity with all the people of all religions and faiths. These three satanic evils – Wahhabism, Zionism and imperialism – are destroying the humanity; it is not the religions, not the Christianity or Judaism or Islam nor the people of nations, which are doing so. And I hope people would be intelligent and the reason would prevail and they would see the people who are destroying the humanity.

Press TV: Mr. Alamdar, at the time like this, when there is so much happening in the world specifically affecting the Muslim countries, how important is it that Eid al-Fitr is being marked in Saudi Arabia, in the Middle East, and Iran on the same day on Wednesday?

Alamdar: Well, that is the Muslims, they’re smart enough, and I think non-Muslims understand with the blessing of the Internet that it is the Wahhabism, it is the kingdom which is destroying (the humanity). And now it’s very clear for the humanity that what Saudi Arabia stands for. In Islam, we do not have any kingdom. The country's name was Hejaz, I mean, who has the right to make it Saudi Arabia. So, these are the basic problems... about this Saudi royal family, which is creating havoc and destroying the entire humanity... Eid is a good opportunity for all Muslims and non-Muslims, and I think through the blessings of Press TV and the Internet, people now understand very well what is going on right now.
