UN chief Ban Ki-moon has highlighted the plight of the people of Gaza in a visit to the coastal enclave. He says Israel’s siege of Gaza has suffocated Palestinians, stifled its economy and impeded reconstruction efforts in the territory. This is Ban’s last trip to Gaza as the UN Secretary General. Palestinians say their situation has deteriorated since he became the UN chief.
