Iranian female Paralympic archer awarded gold in Czech Target 2016

Iran’s physically-challenged sportswoman Somayyeh Abbaspour was awarded a gold medal Sunday at the Czech Target 2016/Paralympic Qualification Tournament in the Czech Republic.

Abbaspour participated in the women’s individual compound contests at the Sports Club Nove Mesto nad Metuji in the town of Nove Mesto nad Metuji.

A representative from Ukraine stood on the second podium and received the silver medal.

Abbaspour earned a spot in the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, last Wednesday.

The Czech Target 2016/ Paralympic Qualification Tournament started in Nove Mesto nad Metuji on June 11 and runs through June 20.

The tournament has brought together 253 male and female Paralymic archers from 48 countries, including Iran, Singapore, Thailand, Ukraine and the United States.
