Police in Belgium have released an image from a surveillance video showing the possible suspects in the blasts at Brussels’ main international airport that left at least 14 people dead and over 90 others injured.

The picture, taken from a CCTV camera at Zaventem airport, shows three men pushing airport carts with suitcases past the check-in area. At least one of the bombs is believed to have been hidden inside a suitcase.

Police issued a wanted notice for the suspect in the white coat, who is believed to have survived the attacks.

Belgian police have identified the two other suspects as the bombers who died in the blasts.

Shortly after the attacks on the airport, another explosion was reported at the Maelbeek metro station in Brussels, where 20 people are thought to have been killed and 106 others injured.

The Daesh terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the two attacks.

Beefed up security

European police departments have stepped up security measures in their capitals and major cities including London, Paris, Vienna and Amsterdam in the wake of the deadly attacks.

The New York City Police Department released a statement saying it is monitoring the unfolding events in Belgium closely and has been in touch with the FBI as well as European security agencies. Similarly, the Los Angeles Police Department has deployed additional resources as a precaution to protect critical locations.

Need to 'end fire of war in Syria'

The UN special envoy to Syria said Tuesday that the Brussels attacks show there is 'no time to lose' for achieving peace in Syria.

"The message we are drawing out of it (is that) we need to extinguish the fire of war in Syria," Staffan de Mistura said. "We need to find a political solution... to make sure we can all concentrate on what is the real danger for everyone in Europe, in the world and Syria."

"The tragedy in Brussels... reminds us that... we have no time to lose," he told reporters in Geneva.
