Bernie Sanders criticizes Israel’s atrocities against Palestinians

• US Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders has criticized Israel’s atrocities against Palestinians. Sanders says Tel Aviv’s settlement expansions in the occupied West Bank undermine the peace process. He has also criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet for withholding millions of dollars in Palestinian tax revenues. 
• Amnesty International has urged the U-S and Britain to stop delivering weapons to Saudi Arabia which has been bombarding Yemen for almost a year. • Member states of the United Nations celebrating the Persian New Year have gathered at the UN headquarters in New York for the International Day of Nowruz. Addressing the event, Secretary General Ban Ki-moon described Nowruz as a perfect example of unity and diversity.
• The Leader of Lebanon’s resistance movement Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah says Saudi Arabia threatens any state which does not meet its demands. He noted that Muslims and the Arab world still have respect for Hezbollah despite it being declared as terrorist organization by the Persian Gulf countries.
• WikiLeaks publishes former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails, which show Google partnered with Al-Jazeera to topple the Syrian government. Jared Cohen, the head of Google Ideas at the time, sent an email to then Deputy Secretary of State William Burns in 2012 about a project to encourage government defectors.
• Cuban President Raul Castro says there are profound differences between his country and the US which will not go away despite a thaw in relations. Castro has also slammed Washington’s embargo on Havana and called for the return of land used for the U-S naval base at Guantanamo Bay.
• Greece has arrested hundreds of refugees a day after a deal between the European Union and Turkey over refugee crisis came into effect. Officials say the asylum seekers who arrived after the deal are being sent to detention centers on Lesbos and Chios islands.
• A Belgian prosecutor says it is too early to confirm the role of the suspects behind last year’s Paris terror attacks. He added that there are still many pieces of puzzle missing. The series of terror attacks in the French capital last November left 130 people dead.
