Press TV has interviewed Manuel Ochsenreiter, editor-in-chief at Zuerst in Berlin, about the German cabinet endorsing a mandate offering military assistance to the US-led coalition in its combat against positions allegedly held by the Takfiri Daesh terrorists.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: Talk to us about the positives and the negatives, if there are any, about the recent mandate of Germany joining the battle against Daesh in Syria?

Ochsenreiter: Well I think the positive point is mentioned very quick. It is a positive point to take the decision to fight terrorism, so and that’s it. The rest is an absolute reckless decision by the German government because first of all the Paris attacks were absolutely horrible but they took place inside Europe. So if the Berlin government wants to fight terrorism in Europe, the point of bombarding to deliver support to the western allied forces in Syria or in Iraq does not make any sense at all. So this is the first point.

So they should concentrate on fighting terrorism in Europe especially in Germany. We have the situation of open borders in Germany with n absolutely non-control in who is entering our country, what the people are doing here, the state gave up completely on any control, on what is happening on the ground inside Europe. So instead of investing now the 134 million or billion in such operation, they should concentrate on this.

But if you want to fight terrorism in Syria, then there are several points absolutely needed if you want to be successful. Point one, means to support those forces on the ground who fight actually terrorism and these are the forces of the Syrian army, of Hezbollah, of Iran and of course of the Russian Federation. As long as there is no coordination with those forces, such an operation does not make sense. Point two, means to stop immediately any sanctions and any embargoes against the Syrian Republic, against Russia and of course against Iran because these are the countries fighting terrorism. The next point would be to go into direct ties, to direct cooperation with the Syrian government, also when it comes to the terrorist danger in Europe we cannot solve the problem without assistance of Syria. The next point would be to offer any support to the Syrian army instead of offering the support to the enemies and to the terrorist supporters of Syria. We are supporting right now Saudi Arabia and Turkey and these are two countries very openly supporting terrorism in the Middle East.

So this is all wrong and as long as these point are not taken any air mission or any military operation of Germany in Syria is not just that it does not make any sense, it also endangers the lives of German military personnel especially also of German pilots and I do not want to know what will happen if we see the first German pilot in a cage of IS (Daesh) terrorists.
