1 Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah has recaptured the area of Wadi al-Darb and Rahwe checkpoint from Takfiri terrorists in the southwest of the Lebanese border town of Arsal. Hezbollah has also purged more than 15 positions from terrorists north and south of Arsal's outskirts.

2 Human Rights Watch has urged UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to add the Israeli army to its list of children’s rights violators for the killing of hundreds of kids during last year’s Gaza war. The rights group says the UN chief can strengthen child protection by compiling his list based on facts, not political pressure.

3 Britain’s Culture Secretary John Whittingdale says England will be ready to host the 20-22 World Cup if it is taken away from Qatar amid corruption allegations. Last week, Swiss authorities launched a corruption probe in connection with the 20-18 and 20-22 World Cup bids and election process by FIFA.

4 Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets of Munich in Germany ahead of a G-7 meeting. Activists slammed leaders of the seven industrialized countries for failing to address pressing global issues. The demonstration was held amid tight security. The two-day summit will kick off in Munich on Sunday.

5 A group of rebels has ambushed a military convoy in India’s restive Manipur state and killed at least 21 soldiers. Over two dozen soldiers were also wounded. The rebels used rocket-propelled grenades and automatic weapons. Manipur borders Myanmar. The region is home to many active militant groups.

6 Ghana’s president John Dramani Mahama has announced three days of national mourning after a huge gas station fire and flooding kill at least one hundred and fifty people in the capital, Accra. President Mahama says the government will allocate about 12-million dollars to relief operations and to repair damaged infrastructure.

7 The United Nations envoy to Libya says the North African country is at the limit and risks becoming a failed state. Bernardino Leon urged rival parties in Libya to set aside differences for the sake of common interests, especially their battle against ISIL terrorists inside Libyan territories.

8 In Turkey, gunmen have attacked the vehicle of a Kurdish party’s campaign ahead of Sunday’s general elections. Officials said the attack in the southeastern province of Shir-nak left the driver of the car dead. This comes weeks after bomb explosions hit the H-D-P offices in the Turkish cities of Adana and Mersin.
