Press TV has conducted an interview with Rustem Safronov, a political analyst in Washington, to discuss the call by President of the European Commission (EC) Jean-Claude Juncker for the creation of a European Union army, amid tensions with Russia over the crisis in Ukraine.

Safronov believes no European army is capable of dealing with a potential conflict with Russia without the help of the United States, adding that Washington is trying to use Europeans as a robust and unified force against Russia. He says the United States is trying to boost European capabilities in order to put the burden on the Europeans in case of a military confrontation with Russia.
