Hundreds of Palestinians have been evacuated from their homes in Gaza Valley after Israeli authorities opened a number of dams surrounding the area.
Water levels have reached more than three meters in some areas. Gaza officials say teams from the Ministry of Public Works are working to remove some eighty families trapped in the area. Gaza has experienced heavy rainfalls and major storms that created flooding in the area and displaced dozens in the past week. Israel has done the same in the past. In 20-13, dozens of families were also forced to leave their homes that sustained heavy damage. This, as displaced families can hardly rebuild their homes as Israel keeps a strict ban on importing construction material into the besieged territories.
