The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has strongly condemned Israel’s frequent targeting of aid convoys, saying it proves the regime insists on pushing ahead with its genocide in the besieged Gaza Strip.
The movement’s Sunday statement came after earlier the same day, Israeli forces bombed another aid truck in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, killing and injuring scores of Palestinians waiting for aid.
The attack, the second of its kind by the regime’s forces in the last five days, came as thousands of starving people were collecting food from the aid truck.
“The Nazi occupation army’s attacks on aid convoys, the latest of which was the attack on an aid truck sent by a Kuwaiti charity in Deir al-Balah … confirm that the criminal [Zionist] entity insists on moving forward with its genocidal and ethnic cleansing war,” Hamas said in its statement.
The movement also accused the Israeli regime of using starvation systematically to deepen the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip and deprive its people of any aid.
Hamas said Israel has no regard for the international law or a recent ruling issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that demanded the regime to stop all forms of genocide in Gaza.
The ICJ issued provisional measures late last month in a case filed by South Africa, calling on the Tel Aviv regime to “take all measures possible to prevent acts of genocide.”
Elsewhere in its statement, Hamas urged the international community, the UN, as well as the Arab and Islamic countries to “break their unjustified silence and take action at all official and popular levels to force this Nazi entity to stop its barbaric war that aims to displace our people and obliterate the Palestinian cause.”
Islamic Jihad: Gaza massacres expose Israel’s criminal nature
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad, for its part, issued a statement on Israel’s Sunday attack on Gaza aid convoy.
The movement said, “What has happened and is happening in the Gaza Strip, with ongoing massacres, is further evidence of the criminal nature inherent in the behavior of the occupation army.”
It added that the Zionist regime’s aggression against Gaza has exposed “the resounding failure of the so-called international community, which turns a blind eye to the ongoing genocide.”
The Islamic Jihad noted that while the international community gives “the occupation a license to kill” Palestinians, it is “prohibiting and criminalizing our people's resistance against this continuous aggression.”
It said, “The whole world, especially the Arab and Islamic regimes, must assume responsibility for stopping these massacres and delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip without waiting for permission from the occupation.”
