Outcry in Argentina after deadly police chase

Hundreds of protesters marched on Buenos Aires on Friday (May 24) amid public outcry after four people were killed during a reported police chase.

On Monday (May 20), three teenagers and an adult died after their car crashed into a truck following a police pursuit in the town of San Miguel de Monte in Buenos Aires province. According to local media reports, a police patrol chased the car, which reportetly refused to stop on police orders, fired gunshots at the vehicle and the car then crashed into a parked truck.

The victims were aged between 14 and 22. The sole survivor, a 13-year-old girl is in a serious condition in hospital. According to officials, 13 officers have been suspended and seven detained as authorities investigate the case that has prompted a public uproar.
