A G7 ministers meeting on 'Climate, energy and environment' will take place on Monday (April 29) and Tuesday (April 30) in Turin.
Italy heads the G7 rotating presidency this year. The country is pushing for an agreement among the Group of Seven wealthy nations to set a target date for the phase-out of coal in power generation, diplomatic sources said ahead of a meeting of G7 energy ministers in Turin.
Nuclear energy is a controversial issue in Italy where nuclear-fired power plants were banned after Italians voted in a 2011 referendum against a law for a national nuclear program.
