Iran runner-up in 2018 Jeju Korea Open International Taekwondo Championships

Female Iranian athletes have finished in the second place overall at the 2018 Jeju Korea Open International Taekwondo Championships.

On Monday and the final day of the tournament in Jeju Island off the southern coast of South Korea, Akram Khodabandeh and Zahra Pouresmaeil managed to collect two bronze medals in the over 73-kilogram weight category.

Earlier in the competitions, Melika Mirhosseini had overcome an opponent from Chinese Taipei in the final contest of the minus 73-kilogram division and clinched the gold.

Parisa Javadi could not defeat an opponent from Hong Kong and settled for the bronze medal in the minus 57-kilogram weight class.

Maryam Malakoutikhah also lost the final showdown of the minus 46-kilogram weight category to a representative from the host nation, and claimed a silver medal.

The 2018 Korea Open International Taekwondo Championships started on July 18 and closed on July 24, 2018.
