Local authorities and residents assessed the damage on Monday after flash floods ravaged the historic Ellicott City, in Maryland a day earlier.

Police closed multiple roads in the area due to toppled trees and damaged pavements. Damaged vehicles on the main street were seen being towed by service trucks.

The historic downtown area was severely damaged as the flash flood ran through the main street, taking everything in its path.

Local business owner Kelli Myers said the community barely recovered from a similar flood that took place around two years ago caused by a heavy rain.
