Iranian club stands 2nd in Pakistan’s 2018 National Kabaddi Championship

Iranian men’s kabaddi team Shahrdari Tabriz has shown great endurance at the 40th edition of National Kabaddi Championship in Pakistan, and claimed the vice champion title after being defeated by the hosts in the title clash.

On Sunday, the Iranian outfit got off to a fairly sound start in its last encounter at Nishtar Park Sports Complex in the northeastern Pakistani city of Lahore, cherishing hopes in pursuit of championship.

The Pakistan Air Force side, in return, fought hard and refused to capitulate, making the match thrilling to the fans.

The Pakistani kabaddi players could finally overcome their Iranian counterparts 32-20 and lifted the trophy.

The 40th National Kabaddi Championship started on February 28, and ran through March 4, 2018. The Pakistan Kabaddi Federation had organized the event.

Kabaddi is the national game of Bangladesh and also the state game of the Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Punjab.

India has the most successful kabaddi team on the world stage, having won every world cup and Asian games title so far, in both men’s and women’s categories.
